PORTFOLIO/PROJECT
Passive Intruder is a collection of photographs of Sydney's Innerwest back streets where I always have a walk and explore. Browsing laneways lets me discover the inner and unintentional beauty in the neighbourhood that we may not notice. A hidden trace of behaviour and subliminal social interaction can be seen in the rear because it is where the least decorated to the public. Over the years, it seems like I am slipping into another world by these intrusions. At the same time, my observation of the texture, the pattern and the change in the area has turned to the celebration of harmony and diversity of this urban living.
The exhibition was held at Buzzzbar Cafe Restuarant, 349 King Street, Newtown, from 5 December 2006 to 14 January 2007.
A journey from end to end on Cavendish Lane, a back street stretching from Stanmore to Enmore, New South Wales, Australia. This is a celebration of the diversed community where I live. I capture the lines, pattern and texture that exist along the street with Nikon D70 camera and arrange the photographs as a simple slide show. The music, Travelling, is composed by CamTarn. Thanks to Andy from Glasgow for wonderful Electronica.
This is a part of my first solo exhibition, Passive Intruder It is 9.41 minutes long (51.8 Mb), so please be patient downloading it. Alternatively, you can watch via YouTube but the quality should not be as good.
Suwannakorn in Thai, rooted from Pali/Sankrit, means 'City of Gold'. This photography series is the reflection of Sydney skyscrapers on the Sydney Harbour. The amber morning light colours the city with its warm, bright and shiny rays, as if gold leaves on pagodas, with clear blue sky in the background. When the whole scene is projected on the rippling calm water, the shapes and colours are shuffled into a new realm far from its reality. And so was I.
The prints of the series were first publicly exhibited at Walking the Street 06.
Portfolio 2002-2004
My personal collection from 2002 to 2004, which were the years I was getting to know Sydney and myself in the new city. I decided to experiment, compiling it with music, and it was fun to make. The structure contains subjects that I have passion about: abstract, life and death of flowers, urban wildlife and architecture. Thanks to Lemi Baruh for his wonderful music.
