While I was working on Hagia Sophia photos, another mosque popped up on my radar—Grand Çamlıca Mosque. Apparently, it is the one afar in the window view of the place I stay on the Asian side of Istanbul. That leads to an obligation to check it out. This is what I look at it through a visiting window.
It is the largest mosque in Turkey as one of the country’s megaprojects. Even though the complex is inspired by classical Ottoman architecture, you can get its contemporary approach. Contrary to the popular ones on the other side, it isn’t packed with visitors, especially foreign ones. That gives you more sense of space, replacing the mystical ambience. Nonetheless, divinity is present.
